How To Nurture a Healthy Relationship

Posted by Unknown at 12:00 AM

People wants their romantic partners to fit into what is ideal for them. Those that should be the "have-it-all" partner to avoid conflict in the relationship.
For most people, spouses and partners should have these traits:

  • Respectful
  • Understanding
  • Caring
  • Truthful and Trustworthy
  • Thoughtful and Loving

These are some of the tips in maintaining a long term and healthy relationships.

Nurture Respect
Respect equates acceptance. This means accepting your partner unconditionally, not by wanting them to change according to who you want them to be. One should also remember that in order to gain your partner's respect, it should first come from within. Above all, value each other -- for love without respect is useless.

Give Efforts and Do Not Take Each Other For Granted

It takes two to tango. So as with relationships. Partners should do their share on making their relationship grow and last. Avoid losing the momentum of the relationship. Appreciate each others efforts and contributions and avoid expecting way too much beyond each other's capacity.

Convey Commitment

Relationships work best when partners give reassurance of love and commitment. Reminding each other of how you feel and how you love your partner makes it the relationship more stronger and longer. Wrap up your day telling him/her I Love You or simply saying you will always be there for him/her.

Communicate

People need to be able to talk freely with a romantic partner. Sharing what is going on in one’s life and how one feels about issues is important to do. But, being open with a partner is not always easy because it requires spouses to tell the truth and to LISTEN to things that may be difficult to hear. Listening in an attempt to UNDERSTAND, not control, evaluate, or judge is critical to having an satisfying relationship.
